Beam Light

■Beam lights focus the light source on a focal point so that the light source is emitted more concentratedly, forming a beam of light to show the stage effect.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

■Beam lamps are famous mainly for their unique light source. Their unique small-diameter bulb design and precise focal length positioning principle make their light efficiency utilization rate extremely high. Their extremely high lumen output also leads to high heat generation, so beam lamps require a constant temperature system. At present, domestic manufacturers have two heat dissipation solutions. One is traditional heat dissipation, which relies on a better fan to dissipate the bulb and cooperates with a temperature control switch. The other more advanced one is software temperature control heat dissipation, which relies on software to control the fan constant temperature. If the fan slows down or fails, the bulb protection will be automatically extinguished and the bulb will not explode. The latter is better of the two methods. Even if the former does not explode, it will have a greater impact on the life of the bulb.

MAIN STYLES

■ Beam light, also known as sharpy in English. The beam lights on the market mainly include 200W beam lights, 230W beam lights, 260W beam lights, 330W beam lights, 1500W beam lights and other series. 300W beam lights and 700W beam lights were popular around 2010, and they have a certain sense of beam. However, the real beam lights, the beam lights that are loved and recognized by everyone, began to become popular from 200W beam lights, which became popular in August 2012 and blossomed everywhere in 2012. Since then, 230W beam lights, 260W beam lights, 330W beam lights, 1500W beam lights, and beam pattern combination lights have been continuously updated and developed. But the mainstream is still 200W beam lights and 230W beam lights.

BULB TYPE

■There are four main types of beam light bulbs, of which Philips is the main one. One is the original bulb, namely Philips Platinum 5R bulb MSD or Osram original 230W; one is Philips UHP bulb; one is Taiwan Ultron 5R, which is the most used in the market; the last one is various counterfeit bulbs and bulbs with uneven color temperature and brightness that Philips has screened out.

■The original 5R platinum bulb is about 700 more expensive than the UHP. In addition, the bulb pressure is also different for the same UHP bulb. Good manufacturers will measure the bulb pressure and screen the bulb again to ensure the stability and consistency of the bulb.

FEATURES

■Computer moving head lights mainly change the light source, and the other channel functions are similar. Beam lights continue many channel functions of previous computer moving head lights on the basis of improving the light source. Usually, domestic 200W beam lights, 230W beam lights, 260W beam lights, 330W beam lights, etc. are equipped with color disks (14 colors + white light), pattern disks (17 patterns plus white light), strobes (0-12/20 times per second), focus, atomization, prisms (mostly single octagonal prisms, some are prisms, pentaprisms, gradient mirrors), and other functions are mostly XY axis speed fine-tuning, etc.

■It is important to point out here that some manufacturers’ prisms are equipped with a prism movement function. The original intention of this function is that the beam light is a spotlight lamp. On the one hand, it strengthens the sense of the beam, but affects the fullness and splendor of the pattern. Therefore, if it is equipped with a prism magnification function, the pattern can be spread out more, especially for some wedding users who do indoor performances in hotels with a floor height of 7 meters. If the pattern is hit on the ground, it will gather together and have no sense of hierarchy and independence. If only a single beam is used, the audience will say that the lamp is too dazzling, and then the prism magnification effect comes in handy. The prism magnification effect (adjusting the dispersion) combined with the focus adjustment (adjusting the clarity) can make the pattern achieve a clear and gorgeous visual impact within a short distance.
